EXHIBITION
Following Marseille’s “chapter” at Espace Jouenne and Maison Montgrand (Aug.28th – Oct 4th) the Infinite Village, occupied the 109‘s courtyard, a pole of contemporary culture in Nice.
The INFINITE VILLAGE was a social, collective and architectural sculpture that invited the experimentation of a “common”. This artistic, participative and educational platform occupied the cities of Marseille and Nice in various forms (installations, performances, workshops, conferences and projection) offering plural activities to share with local residents, international guests, associations and the public. This European and International entity is shaping a new common and humanist future.
At INFINITE VILLAGE Shezad Dawood presented the world premiere of Episode 6 of the Leviathan cycle..An ambitious ten-part film cycle designed and directed by Shezad Dawood. This series inaugurated in Venice in May 2017 to coincide with 57th Biennale, examining some of the pressing issues of our time. In dialogue with a wide range of marine biologists, oceanographers, political scientists, neurologists and trauma specialists, Leviathan envisions a very similar future to our presence. To examine possible links between borders, mental health and marine well-being. Each episode is taken from the perspective of a different character and their journey. The project also contains a vibrant series of textiles, sculptures and neon lights, collectively imagining a world where the dividing lines between these entities are not fully understood or to which it is not answered.
